OUR HISTORY

CLCID is the leading organization for advocacy, influence, and support of Interior Designers in California. CLCID helps designers to further their professional development while keeping you updated of potential legislative actions. The CLCID is your voice in the Interior Design industry, representing all Interior Designers across California on issues that are important to your practice. We work towards the common goal of maintaining  standards of excellence and quality while preserving each designer’s right to practice.

The California Legislative Coalition for Interior Designers began in the 1980’s as a coalition of individual interior designers, design organizations and private corporations, committed to supporting the practice of professional interior designers. The CLCID advocates for Certification recognition of professional Interior Designers and supports designer’s right to practice by surveying relevant legislation.

Throughout our 30 years of activity, the CLCID has reviewed, contributed, and supported bills and legislation relevant to the practice of the Interior Design profession, while taking appropriate action opposing legislation that is not in the interest of designers. We are also committed to developing the professional skills of Interior Designers in California.
