WE ARE THE ORGANIZATION
OF INTERIOR DESIGNERS
FOR INTERIOR DESIGNERS
CLCid advocates for ALL interior designers in California across all practice types and market segments. We provide invaluable opportunities to connect with industry leaders, build lasting relationships, and stay at the forefront of interior innovation.
CLCid’s Core Values include:
- KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION – We share knowledge through education of the built environment to interior designers, legislators, and the public.
- INCLUSIVITY – We collaborate with interior designers in all stages of their careers, associated professionals, and public officials.
- RESPONSIBILITY – We track and distribute current codes related to the interior design profession to promote public safety.
- LEADERSHIP – As the foremost advocate, we are an organization of interior designers for interior designers.
MISSION
Our mission is to help interior designers succeed and thrive in the profession. We provide support throughout the interior designer's career trajectory.
HISTORY
The CLCid was established in the 1980s as a coalition of various interior design organizations and individuals. It was formed to support the practice of professional interior designers and advocate for their recognition through certification. The coalition played an enormous role in supporting the legislation that led to the formation of the California Council for Interior Design Certification, which administers the Certified Interior Designer Title Act to protect the health, safety and welfare of consumers by establishing and implementing professional standards and educational requirements, ensuring competence through examination, and compliance with professional standards and our code of ethics.
Our collective hard work has resulted in the defeat of misguided legislation that would have devastated the interior design profession by limiting the scope of services that interior designers are legally able to provide.
Through our dynamic network within the design community and industry professionals, we foster collaboration, education, and leadership development —ensuring that our members have the tools and resources they need to succeed.
